Models
ATM models for sale — which format fits your site?
All three formats run the same cards, PIN and Tap & Go withdrawals. The difference is where they physically go, how much cash they hold and how often someone has to load them.
| Format | Best for | Cash capacity | Install | Availability |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Compact / countertop | Small stores, bars, salons, kiosks with limited floor space | Single cassette — suits lower weekly withdrawal volumes | Sits on a counter or plinth, bolted down; power and data only | New or refurbished |
| Freestanding lobby | Pubs, clubs, service stations, convenience stores and shopping centres | Single or multi-cassette — fewer loads on busy sites | Anchored to the floor inside the venue; power and data | From $4,500 refurbished incl. Tap & Go |
| Through-the-wall | 24-hour access, highway and roadhouse sites, centre entrances | Multi-cassette, high capacity for round-the-clock trade | Built into the wall, weather and vandal rated; needs building work | Quoted per site |
Popular on Australian sites: the Hyosung 2700A freestanding unit. Tell us your venue type and trading hours and we'll recommend the format and specify the machine.
Cost guidance
What actually sets the price of an ATM machine
Two venues rarely get the same number. These are the variables that move it, so you can see what your quote is made of before you ask for one.
New or refurbished
Refurbished units are the lowest entry price and the shortest payback. New units cost more and add current-generation security hardware and warranty.
Format and cash capacity
Compact single-cassette units sit at the bottom of the range; multi-cassette freestanding and through-the-wall machines cost more and hold far more cash.
Installation and site works
Power, data and floor anchoring are straightforward. Through-the-wall installs involve building work and are always quoted per site.
Ongoing running costs
Cash float (recovered on every withdrawal), connectivity, receipt rolls, servicing and parts. No rental and no revenue share — the surcharge is all yours.

Buying an ATM machine — common questions
Refurbished ATMs start from $4,500 including the Tap & Go kit for mobile wallet withdrawals. New and through-the-wall machines are quoted per site because price depends on format, cash capacity and installation. Put your quoted price into the calculator above to see your exact payback.
A fully tested and re-certified freestanding or compact refurbished ATM, the Tap & Go / contactless kit so customers can withdraw with their phone or card, delivery, installation, staff training and ongoing technical support. Final price may vary if your site needs extra works.

Yes, for most venues. A refurbished ATM is stripped, tested and re-certified before it ships, runs the same cards and Tap & Go as a new unit on current software, and costs materially less — which shortens payback because the surcharge income is identical. Buy new when you want the newest security hardware, the latest screen and a full manufacturer warranty term.
When you own the machine you keep 100% of the surcharge on every withdrawal. Multiply your weekly withdrawals by the surcharge and by 4.33 for a monthly figure — the calculator on this page does it for you and shows payback in months.
Payback is simply machine price divided by monthly surcharge income. Busy 24-hour, highway and late-trade sites commonly recover a refurbished machine inside 6–12 months; quieter sites take longer, and free placement or a lease usually suits them better.
Budget for the cash float (working capital you get back on each withdrawal, not a cost), connectivity for the machine, consumables such as receipt rolls, periodic servicing and parts, and your time loading and reconciling. There is no rental or revenue share to pay because the machine is yours.
Buy if volume is high and you are comfortable managing a cash float. Lease for a fixed monthly cost with a larger surcharge share and no capital outlay. Take free placement for zero cost and zero cash handling with an agreed revenue share.
You supply and manage the float by default, which is why you keep the full surcharge. We can also quote managed cash loading, and we train your staff on loading, balancing and reconciliation at installation.
EFTPOS fees
Also paying too much on card payments?
Most venues we install an ATM for are also running an EFTPOS terminal. If you want the card side checked at the same time, we compare EFTPOS machine fees, terminal rental and surcharging options off one recent merchant statement. Compare EFTPOS machine fees or ask about both in the same enquiry.
