You choose between a surcharge revenue share, where your committee earns a share of each withdrawal, or a flat daily or weekend hire fee. Why it matters
When the network clogs, cash is the fallback
At a packed Sydney market or festival, thousands of phones and card terminals share the same handful of mobile cells. Stallholders' wireless EFTPOS terminals slow, time out or drop entirely at exactly the moment queues are longest. The result is not a technical inconvenience — it is a vendor watching a customer walk away mid-sale, and a market manager fielding complaints on Monday.
Cash does not depend on the crowd's bandwidth. A withdrawal made once, early in a visit, funds a dozen small purchases across the ground with no terminal involved. That is why on-site cash access changes vendor turnover rather than just convenience: casual stallholders at vintage, craft and swap-and-sell markets often have no terminal at all, and produce vendors regularly prefer cash on small basket sizes.
Cash also became a live pricing question. Since the Reserve Bank of Australia's review of retail payments costs and surcharging, more Australian businesses are quoting a lower cash price to avoid card acceptance costs. That only works if patrons can actually get cash on site. Definitions
Terms event organisers ask about
Mobile ATM hire — a temporary, date-bound ATM deployment to a site that has no permanent machine, delivered and removed by the operator, as distinct from a fixed venue installation.
Dual-ATM trailer — a self-contained trailer housing two ATMs, so two withdrawals can complete at the same time and peak queues clear roughly twice as fast as with a single machine.
Withdrawal surcharge — the fee shown on screen and accepted by the cardholder before a withdrawal completes. It is the revenue that funds the deployment, and the amount a revenue-share event organiser takes a share of.
Revenue share — an agreement under which the event organiser receives an agreed portion of surcharge revenue instead of paying a hire fee.
Lead time — the minimum notice needed to confirm a booking. Ours is 10 days, because cash ordering, site checks and delivery scheduling all sit inside it.

Sydney event ATM hire questions
At least 10 days. Every event booking is confirmed in writing, and that lead time covers site access, power and connectivity checks, cash ordering and scheduling the delivery run. Large festivals and long weekends fill early, so 3–4 weeks' notice is safer. We cannot guarantee a machine on shorter notice.
Each trailer carries two machines, so two people withdraw at the same time. Larger events can take two trailers — four machines on the ground — which is the configuration we recommend for ticketed festivals, shows and long-weekend markets. On a market ground or festival gate, extra machines roughly halve the queue at the busiest half-hour, which is usually where cash access breaks down and stallholders lose sales.
Two models. A surcharge revenue share, where your committee or organisation receives an agreed share of the withdrawal surcharge and pays no hire fee. Or a flat daily or weekend hire fee for guaranteed placement and support. Which one suits depends on expected attendance; both are quoted per event before you commit.
Vehicle access to drop and position the trailer, a level standing area, agreement on where it sits relative to pedestrian flow, and confirmation of your event's own insurance and site conditions. We handle the machines, cash, monitoring and removal.
