Short answer
ATM hire for events — the short answer
ATM hire for an event means we deliver the machines, position them against your site plan, run them on a connection we control, keep them loaded and monitored through the day, and remove them at pack-down. You choose between a trailer holding two ATMs, up to two trailers for four machines on high-density days, and portable standalone units for indoor halls and pavilions. Bookings are confirmed in writing at least 10 days out, and pricing is an equipment hire fee plus a transaction surcharge, with a surcharge share available on high-traffic events.

What decides the count
How many ATMs an event actually needs
The number that matters is not attendance, it is the arrival window. Ten thousand people arriving across eight hours is a comfortable single-trailer event. Three thousand arriving in forty minutes through one gate is not, because everybody wants cash at the same moment and a single machine turns into a twenty-minute queue that people abandon. When patrons abandon the queue, the loss lands on your stallholders rather than on us, which is why we ask about gates and session times before quoting a machine count.
A single trailer carries two ATMs, so two withdrawals run in parallel and a peak clears instead of stalling. Two trailers — four machines — are the standard answer for multi-day shows, ticketed festivals and any ground where a long walk separates the entrance from the food precinct. In that pattern one position sits at the gate, catching people who arrived without cash, and the second sits with the food line, catching people who have run out of it.
Indoor venues, pavilions and halls are usually the opposite problem: plenty of time, no room. A portable standalone unit takes a fraction of the footprint of a trailer, plugs into a normal 240V outlet and can be positioned inside the room rather than out in a car park. We will tell you which of the two fits your site rather than sending the bigger option by default.
- One trailer, two machines — weekend markets, single-afternoon fairs, community festivals
- Two trailers, four machines — multi-day shows, ticketed festivals, compressed arrival windows
- Portable units — indoor halls, pavilions, expos, conference and function spaces
- Split positions — gate plus food precinct, so both the walk and the queue shorten

On the day
What the hire covers from bump-in to pack-down
We arrive inside the bump-in window agreed in writing, place the unit on the position worked out from your site plan, level it, connect power, bring up the connection and test a live transaction while there is still time to move. From that point the machines are our responsibility: loading, monitoring, fault response and removal at the end. Your team runs the event.
Cash-in-transit and loading sit with us for a reason. A machine that runs empty in the middle of the busiest hour is worse than no machine at all, because patrons walked past a working card terminal to reach it. Monitoring through the day means the float is topped up before it becomes a problem rather than after somebody complains at the gate.
Support staff attend where an event's size, layout or trading hours warrant it — night markets with a late pack-down and multi-day shows are the usual cases. On a single-trailer weekend market, attendance is normally unnecessary and we say so instead of billing for it.
Lead time
Why bookings close 10 days out
Trailer availability is finite and date-driven. A confirmed booking needs at least 10 days, and that is a floor rather than a target: show season, spring street festivals, November school fairs and December twilight markets are the tightest windows in the calendar and three to four weeks is realistic for those dates. If your date is inside the minimum, send it anyway — we will tell you honestly whether a unit is free rather than holding you in a maybe.
Everything that matters gets confirmed in writing before the date: the position, the bump-in and bump-out windows, the machine count, the hire model and who the on-site contact is. That is deliberate. Event days are chaotic and a verbal arrangement made three weeks earlier is worth nothing at 6am on a showground.
What to know before you hire
Power, space, cash handling and surcharges
The three things organisers ask about most, answered before you commit to a date.
Power and space requirements
Most mobile trailers and standalone units need a standard 240V power supply, or a dedicated generator where mains power is not available, and a flat, level area of roughly 4.5m x 3m with wireless network coverage. Where a site's Wi-Fi or mobile coverage is weak we bring our own connectivity equipment instead — we do not accept dropouts during transactions, so the connection is set up independently and tested before patrons arrive.
Cash loading and security
This is a full-service hire. We manage cash-in-transit, loading and monitoring, so your event staff and volunteers never open a machine or touch internal components. Positioning is agreed against your site plan, and delivery and pack-down windows are confirmed in writing rather than assumed.
Surcharges and earnings
Event hire is priced as an equipment hire fee plus a standard transaction surcharge paid by the person withdrawing — typically between $2.50 and $6.00 depending on the setup. Some high-traffic events qualify for a share of the surcharge revenue or a commission instead of, or alongside, a lower hire fee. Which model suits your event depends on expected withdrawal volume, and we say so plainly before you book.

FAQs
ATM hire for events questions
Pricing is an equipment hire fee plus a standard transaction surcharge paid by the person withdrawing, typically between $2.50 and $6.00 depending on the setup. High-traffic events may qualify for a share of surcharge revenue or a commission, which can reduce or replace the hire fee. The right model depends on expected withdrawal volume, so we quote against your event rather than from a rate card.
