Short answer
ATM market hire — the short answer
Market hire is the most common event booking we take. A market's cash problem is specific: dozens of small independent stallholders, many with no card terminal or a terminal fighting for the same congested mobile network, and basket sizes small enough that a card fee hurts. One trailer with two machines, positioned near the entry and in line of sight of the stalls, is usually the whole answer. We deliver, position against the market manager's site plan, keep the machines loaded, and pack down inside the agreed window.

Why markets are different
Small baskets, independent stalls, congested networks
A market is not a small festival. It is dozens of separate micro-businesses trading side by side, each making its own decision about payments. Some take cards, some do not, some quote a cash price, and a produce stall selling $6 items has a completely different fee problem to a food truck selling $18 meals. What they share is that a patron who cannot reach cash simply walks past the stalls that need it.
Network congestion turns that from a nuisance into lost trade. When a few thousand extra phones hit a local cell at a suburban market ground, the wireless terminals on stall tables are competing for the same capacity — and cash is the payment method still working. That is exactly why our connectivity is set up independently and tested during bump-in rather than borrowed from the venue.
Positioning matters more at a market than anywhere else, because there is rarely a gate. On a school-ground market the answer is usually just inside the pedestrian entry, visible but clear of the walking line, so patrons withdraw on arrival and spend across the whole ground instead of only at the first two stalls.
- Weekend and Saturday markets on school and church grounds
- Farmers and produce markets with small basket sizes
- Craft, vintage and collectables markets where cash trading is normal
- Twilight and night markets with a late pack-down window
- Council street markets under a traffic management plan

Stallholders
Cash prices and why patrons need a machine on the ground
More market stalls now quote a cash price. Australian businesses may offer a discount for paying with cash — the requirement is that pricing is truthful and not misleading under the Australian Consumer Law, which the ACCC enforces alongside NSW Fair Trading. There is no separate NSW cash-discount statute and no unconditional right to a cash discount either; it is a pricing choice, made properly.
The practical consequence for a market manager is simple. A cash price only gets used if patrons can reach cash inside the ground, and there is no bank branch inside a market gate. If your stalls are quoting cash prices and there is no machine on site, the discount is theoretical and the sale goes on a card anyway. General information only — not legal or financial advice.
Standing bookings
Recurring markets are easiest to lock in
Weekly and monthly markets are the simplest bookings we run, because once a position is proven the same arrangement repeats. A standing booking removes the date-by-date availability risk that catches one-off events in show season, and it means the same crew knows your access gate, your bump-in slot and where the trailer sits.
One-off market dates still work fine — they just need the 10 days minimum, and more through the busy months. Christmas and twilight market dates in November and December are the tightest of the year and worth locking well beyond the minimum.
What to know before you hire
Power, space, cash handling and surcharges
The three things organisers ask about most, answered before you commit to a date.
Power and space requirements
Most mobile trailers and standalone units need a standard 240V power supply, or a dedicated generator where mains power is not available, and a flat, level area of roughly 4.5m x 3m with wireless network coverage. Where a site's Wi-Fi or mobile coverage is weak we bring our own connectivity equipment instead — we do not accept dropouts during transactions, so the connection is set up independently and tested before patrons arrive.
Cash loading and security
This is a full-service hire. We manage cash-in-transit, loading and monitoring, so your event staff and volunteers never open a machine or touch internal components. Positioning is agreed against your site plan, and delivery and pack-down windows are confirmed in writing rather than assumed.
Surcharges and earnings
Event hire is priced as an equipment hire fee plus a standard transaction surcharge paid by the person withdrawing — typically between $2.50 and $6.00 depending on the setup. Some high-traffic events qualify for a share of the surcharge revenue or a commission instead of, or alongside, a lower hire fee. Which model suits your event depends on expected withdrawal volume, and we say so plainly before you book.

ATM market hire questions
Yes. We deliver trailer-mounted and portable ATMs to markets across Sydney and regional NSW, with at least 10 days notice. Delivery, positioning, connectivity, cash loading, monitoring and removal are included.
One trailer with two machines covers most weekend markets, because two people withdraw at once and the peak clears. Large multi-precinct or multi-day markets sometimes justify a second position.
Yes — recurring weekly and monthly markets can run as a standing booking once a position is agreed, which is both cheaper to plan and safer through busy months.
The equipment hire fee is paid by the organiser or market manager, and the transaction surcharge — typically $2.50 to $6.00 depending on the setup — is paid by the person withdrawing. Busy markets may qualify for a surcharge share.
